RCMP warn residents to lock up

Staff Sergeant Art Hopkins says it is important for residents to be vigilant about protecting their property.
This comes after recent reports of youth prowling neighbourhoods, looking for an easy grab.
Hopkins says there has been an increase in reports of youths walking through communities checking to see if vehicles are locked.
“Vehicles found unlocked are entered and anything of value is being stolen,” he said.
The easiest way for residents to protect themselves is to lock up.
“It is subsequently requested that you secure your vehicles and remove anything of value out of sight,” said Hopkins.
He continues that residents observing suspicious activities in their neighbourhood should call the local detachment of the RCMP at 403-823-7590.
