Senior Titans begin training with new coach

Beginning their training next Monday, the senior Titans are welcoming the appointing of former defensive coordinator Ken Fournier to the role of head coach for the coming season.

Fournier graduated with the Titans organization in high school in 2002, and continued onto junior football in Kamloops with the Cowboys and later with the Calgary Gators. He was defensive coordinator with the bantams in 2004 and became the seniors’ defensive coach in 2005 until 2009.
“I’ve been around for a while, it’s not like too much has changed,” said Fournier.
Former head coach Jason Rasmussen stepped down from the head role but will continue to support the team in smaller positions.
Fournier said the seniors have only lost six Grade 12s since last year, and only look to fill some skilled positions like running back, quarterback, and a few linebackers on defense.  The Titan offensive line is the same as last year, minus one player.
“That’s a good thing, we have a lot of experience on our offensive line this year,” said Fournier. “We have a big year of Grade 12s coming up.”
They’ll begin spring training on Monday, May 2 three times a week. They have a jamboree style tournament, where coaches are allowed on the field, scheduled in Okotoks on May 28. A tentative exhibition match has been set for June 4.
“I think the way things are looking so far, we’ll definitely have a faster team depending on how we fill the roles we lost last year,” said Fournier. “A lot of these players have realized they’ve been working hard the last couple years – two years of championships and two years of losing, it’s time to step it up a notch and take that win.”
