Bantams finish season with healthy Titan organization’s future

The Bantam Titans finished a strong season on Saturday at home, where they lost a close match against the Sylvan Lake Lions, 46-31 in their league final.     “It was back and forth from beginning to end,” says coach Andrew Berdahl, an anomaly for this season – either the Titans were laying out the other team or vice versa.
“It was exciting because we were well matched,” said Berdahl, adding that the Lions played an exciting style of game not regularly seen at the bantam level.
Grade 9 halfback Spencer Fournier had yet another exceptional game by lighting up the scoreboard, running 5 touchdowns into Sylvan Lake’s endzone by the end of the fourth quarter.
“He’s an impressive athlete, and I would expect that to continue into next year,” said Berdahl. “The best thing about these last games is that our best players have really been our best players.”
He adds all the Grade 9 players have done well, making good news for the program when they move up to the senior level next September.
Looking back, it was a good year, says the coach. Resiliency is one of the defining terms he pins to the bantam squad.
“We had some great experiences, and the program looks healthy – in terms of the culture that’s being built and the level of play being evolved.”
