A Rumsey swimmer has qualified for provincials and posting personal bests as he goes along.
Eddie Boyd, 12, has been swimming with the Stettler Tsunamis for the last three seasons. On Saturday, April 5, he competed at the Stetter Sweet Meet. He swam in the 100-metre Individual Medley and shattered his personal best, posting a time of 1:25.25.
With these results, he has qualified to compete at the provincial level.
“He achieved a provincial standard time, so he can participate at the provincial festival,” explains his Coach Jarek Bursik. “This is basically the provincial championships for 12 and under.”
Coach Bursik explains that Eddie has been constantly improving over the last couple of seasons.
“He did lots of work during the summer with his friend Grady (McGougan) who was coaching him. That helped a lot,” said Bursik. “The work he has been putting in has finally paid off.”
The Provincial Competition is on June 13 in Lethbridge.
