April 9, 1946 - May 7, 2025
Piera Morello, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 7, 2025, in Drumheller, Alberta. A devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished member of the community, Piera’s life was defined by resilience, faith, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Born on April 9, 1946, in Tavagnasco, Italy, Piera immigrated to Montreal, Canada, in 1948 with her parents, Dominic and Livia Morello. They brought with them a deep sense of tradition and cultural pride—values that remained central to Piera’s identity throughout her life. She proudly maintained her Italian heritage, often speaking the language with her mother and embracing the customs of her upbringing. Piera grew up alongside her younger brother, John. Piera was the proud sister-in-law to Bonnie and the loving aunt of their two children, Justin and Kelsey.
She was open-hearted and respectful of all beliefs. Over the years, she explored many different churches and places of worship, always seeking connection, peace, and understanding. Her kindness and open spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
In 1970, Piera met her loving and supportive husband, Gary. Together, they built a beautiful life, sharing over 50 years of marriage. They raised two children with devotion and strength. Her daughter, Patricia, sadly predeceased her—a loss that never left her heart. Piera is lovingly remembered by her son, Michael, a devoted husband and father whose accomplishments brought her endless pride. She was also a beloved grandmother to Griffin, Avery, Carter, and Peyton, who filled her later years with light and laughter. She shared a special bond with each of them, including Peyton, who shared her birthday.
Piera found joy in life’s simple pleasures: sharing home-cooked meals with loved ones, taking road trips to visit family across the country, and savouring every moment in the company of those she held dear.
A funeral service will be held at the Midland Community Hall in July, the exact date will be determined soon.
Piera Morello’s legacy lives on in the family she loved so deeply and in the many lives she touched. May her memory be a blessing and a comfort to all those who knew her.
