Mr. Russ Chuprun passed away on April 29, 2025, at Drumheller Health Centre/Continuing Care with his family by his side at the age of 95 years.
Russ was born July 1, 1929, in Avonlea, Sask. He married Dixie Lynn Lougheed in 1958. To this union one son was born Peter. In 1967 Russ and Dixie moved to Drumheller where he started working at the newly opened Drumheller Institution Corrections Canada as a plumber. The family has resided in the Drumheller Valley ever since. Russ like growing tomatoes, woodworking, trips to Hawaii, and of course golf. Russ’s last day of work was July 31, 1990, with Corrections Canada, the family was going to move back to Saskatchewan, but then the new back nine opening at the golf course in Drumheller in 1996, that was enough to stay in the valley. He was one of the few to get a hole in one on hole 16, quite an achievement. Russ was a loving husband and father; he will be sadly missed by his family.
There will be no funeral service for Russ, the family would like to thank the “girls” and people at Continuing Care for all of their help in the last few years, making Russ’s stay comfortable.
