Guy Raymond

April 30, 1931 - January 15, 2022

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Guy Raymond Dompnier of Drumheller, Alberta, beloved husband of Gisele (Gigi). He left us peacefully with family at his side after a lengthy illness at the age of 90.
He is survived by his wife Gigi, daughter Lise (Giaco), Nicole, Frank (Pamela), Grandchildren: Philip (Natalie), Julia (Daniel), Giacomo, Ryan (Lauren), Amy, Hannah and great grandchildren Davin, Brooklyn, Adelyn, Henry and Hazel. Guy was predeceased (1986) by his firstborn son Marc.
Guy was born on April 30, 1931 to Marcel and Alida Dompnier in Girouxville, AB. He was educated in High Prairie, AB and prior to joining government service in 1953, he was an automotive parts salesman. He was married in August 1956 to Gigi and was very active in local community chamber of commerce, including the role of Town Mayor. He was also very involved in numerous Catholic parishes, choirs programs and Kinsmen Club organizations.
He retired from the government at the early age of 54. He enjoyed travel and outdoors with his family his entire life continuing on after retirement with Gigi for 35 years to numerous winter US retreats. They spent Canadian summers at the lake fishing, camping and enjoying being outdoors by the campfire. He also enjoyed teaching line dancing, playing recreational pool, chess and cards with family and friends where they had travelled.
Guy was an incredibly talented natural musician, teaching himself almost every instrument and had the gift to play any song by ear without any instruction. He enjoyed singing and dancing to all types of music and his passion continued into his final days where music was his calming grace. He was very proud of all his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each of them. It was always important to him to take photos which he also enjoyed viewing and reflecting on those memories in his final days. Guy had a great sense of humor and could recite countless number of jokes and stories through his entire life.
These lasting memories of him will be with his family and all those who knew him, forever.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to STARS Air Ambulance in his memory.
