Arnold Leon
Rasmussen

September 11, 1926 - February 6, 2019

Arnold passed away quietly at the age of 92, on February 6, 2019 at Breton, Alberta. Arnold was born in Calgary and raised on the family farm near Standard, Alberta. The Farm meant a great deal to him and he was always welcomed “home” for visits by his dear nephew Brian Rasmussen (Shelley) and family. Arnold had a fine intellect and successfully applied his outstanding mechanical aptitude and ingenuity to a multitude of projects, business ventures and farming. If a machine that he needed didn’t exist, he’d design and build it. He also contributed greatly to his brothers’ racing endeavours, from the track on the farm to the Indy 500. He loved his pets and enjoyed his long time in the Breton area. He is survived by Gail, his loving wife of almost 39 years and by the children from his first marriage: Val Rasmussen, Gerri Rasmussen (Ulrich Hofer), Janet Rasmussen (Frank Albus), Brenda Scott, Blaine Rasmussen and Bev Brown (Gerry), 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Arnold is also survived by his sister Lois Paulson and brother Eldon Rasmussen (Dianne), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by his brother Gordon Rasmussen and sisters Dagny Anderson and Lucille Fortier. At Arnold’s request, there will be no service. The family would like to thank the staff at Breton Long Term Care where Arnold spent his last few months after a long, healthy adventure of a life. Memorial Contributions may be made to Breton Long Term Care, 4919 49 Avenue, Breton, Alberta T0C 0P0. Photos, memories and condolences can be shared at Serenity Funeral Services:
