April 2, 1947 - February 1, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie after a courageous battle with cancer on February 1st surrounded by family and friends at the Saanich hospital in Sydney, BC. She was the oldest daughter of the late Ivan and Mary Long. She was a loving wife to Brian for 51 years. Elsie leaves her son, Richard (Kristina), daughter Jenifer (Dana), and granddaughters Breanna & Sage. She will be missed by her sisters Kay Richards (Doug) and Patty Blocksom (Terry), her brother Ken Long, sister-in-law Jeanette Rougeau and many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Jim Long (Mickie). A special thank you to the Demman and Neal families for all of your help. As her kids were growing up, she was a dedicated parent, volunteer at their schools, hockey, and lacrosse. Elsie spent many years working at Sidney’s True Value Hardware Store, always with a smile and a helping hand. Elsie had a heart of gold, loved us fiercely and always gave the BEST hugs, especially to her granddaughters. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring, a date to follow.
