Darren James

November 10, 1974 - Drumheller, AB
December 20, 2018 - Cranbrook, BC

Darren James Craig was born on November 10, 1974 in Drumheller, AB and passed away December 20, 2018 in
Cranbrook, BC at the tender age of 44 years after a very lengthy illness. Darren leaves behind his life partner of 21 years Melanie Fitka and their five children: Foster, Madelyn, Eliza, Benjamin and Faith. He also leaves behind his mom, Leslie (Tink) Craig (Larry Poland) of Drumheller; his brother, Shaun and his family, Tracie, Allisen and Morgen of Valleyview, AB and Mckenzie of Clive, AB; his sister, Danielle and her daughters Rylee and Parker of Red Deer. Darren is also survived by Melanie’s sisters Stephanie (Colin) of Calgary; Ashley (Roy) of Cranbrook and nieces and nephew Taina, Taylor, Zander and Ava. Darren is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and his many, many friends in Cranbrook, Calgary and Drumheller. Darren was a wonderful person who was willing to help anyone in any way that he could. He was a most loving, caring and kind person with one of the best hearts ever. His love for the outdoors such as hiking and swimming, the sun, the mountains, his pets and animals in general were very well known. And he loved music! Darren was employed for quite a few years by Culligan in Cranbrook where he came into contact with so many customers who thought of him as almost family. Darren will be cremated and a tree will be planted in his honour at a place of Melanie’s choosing. We all would like to thank the doctors and staff of the ICU and 3rd floor at the East Kootenay General Hospital and the doctors and staff of the Vancouver General Hospital ICU for the kindness and care they have shown Darren and his family over these many months. Also to Teresa and Margaret for being such wonderful friends of Melanie, Darren and family and to the many, many caring families Darren came in contact with as a “Culligan Man”! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Darren’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice. There will be a Celebration of Life for Darren on the May long weekend at Wycliffe Park outside of Cranbrook. Danielle will keep everyone updated through Facebook. Mark Memorial Community Funeral Home in Cranbrook is in charge of
arrangements.
