Jewel Evelyn

August 23, 1930 - July 13, 2018

Jewel passed away peacefully in the Drumheller Health Care Centre at the age of 87, the beloved wife of George Clark Comstock. Jewel loved to participate in many activities, which include making afghans for those she loved, being involved in nature; especially bird watching, and reading a good book. Jewel spent 67 years living on their farm south east of Rosebud with her husband George. The couple met while attending Olds College, marrying shortly after on October 28th, 1950. George and Jewel moved off the farm to reside in Drumheller, in September 2017. Jewel involved herself with many organizations in Rosebud and the surrounding area: Co-owner of the Silver Thimble, Secretary and Director for the Rosebud Gas Co-op, serving on the board for 17 years, Assistant to the Secretary for the Federation of Alberta Gas Co-ops for 8 years, Good Neighbours Club, Jolly Junior Ladies Club, and the Marigold Library. Jewel will not only be remembered for what she did, but rather for who she was. Jewel was a loving character, she was clever and witty while being honest with opinions, with a sweet smile, “a shining light”. Jewel is survived by her husband George Comstock, “daughters”, Debby (Jim), Pam (Fred), Gayle (Larry), Yvonne (Ralph), Vera (Donald), “son”, Craig (Tina), 16 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Jewel was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Evelyn Marshall, as well as two infant brothers. Also her brother/sister-in-law Bill and Catherine Poole.
