Mr. Ronald Orval Bigford
of Drumheller, beloved husband of Maria Gammie, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2018 at the age of 84 years. Ron was born in Drumheller on June 10, 1933 to Raymond & Emma Bigford. Grandpa Ron received his education in the valley and was ready to work at a very young age, beginning his career in the coal mining industry. Unc went on to make several employment changes in and around the area but always returned home. He had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing and was thrilled when that rubbed off on any of us. His larger-than-life stories and laughing fits will be the memories that carry us forward in his absence. Besides his loving wife Maria, Ron is survived by his step children; Connie Gammie (Kevin Girletz), Ed (Tina) Gammie, grandchildren; Reo, Sierra, and Riata, sisters; Bev Audy, Brenda (Roy) Lawrence, Coral (Clayton) Bickford, brother; Floyd Bigford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Ron was predeceased by his first wife Grace, brother-in-law Bob Audy, sister-in-law Shirley Bigford. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at the Michichi Reservoir on June 16, 2018 at 1:00 P.M., in honour of Ron please bring a chair and a fishing rod, lunch and drinks will be provided. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made in loving memory of Ron to the Salvation Army (Drumheller) or the Grace House (Drumheller).
