It is with great sadness that the family of Stanley Alfred Schneider announces his passing on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the age of 81. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Geri of 58 years and his children, Sterling (Kathy), Rob (Sandra), Tracy (Alvin) Zeiler. He will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren, Larry, Cole (Carla), Ashley, Ryan (Caitlin), Justin, and Nick, and his great grandchild August, he was also known as “PAPA” by his great nephew and niece Tanner and Kaitlyn. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Marie and brother Bob Schneider. Stan was a Smoke Jumper (Firefighter) for a number of years in Saskatchewan, later he worked for the Department of Corrections in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He then transferred to the Correctional Institution in Drumheller, Alberta and eventually retired from the Institution in Bowden, Alberta in 1991. For the next 15 years he worked in the Parks and Recreation department for the City of Red Deer, Alberta. A Funeral Service in memory of Stan will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 2:00 P.M., at the Eventide Funeral Home, 4820-45 Street Red Deer, Alberta with Rev. Sheila McLellan officiating. A post funeral reception will be held at the funeral home. The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Canadian Pulonary Fibrosis Foundation (47 Squire Bakers Lane Markham, Ontario L3P 3G8) in memory of Stan.
