After her struggle with cancer these past 8 months, Shirley Shukys went home to our Lord on Saturday April 15, 2017 at the age of 79. She was born Shirley Florence on January 23, 1938 to Florence and Ovid St. Amour in Pembroke ON. Shirley met her husband, Alexander (Al) of 62 years in 1954 and along with their children, headed west in 1966 to set roots in Calgary. They were deep roots but once they’d found their little piece of heaven in the Drumheller Valley, there would be no more city life. This is where Shirley’s heart belonged, where her happiest days were cast with family and friends, and where she will rest in eternity. Shirley leaves behind Al, son David (Donna), daughters Donna and Moochie (Tim), grandsons Travis (Billie), Chad, Michael (Lois), Jason (Amanda), Brett (Katie), granddaughters Sarah, Renée (Mike), Elaine and many great-grandchildren- all who she loved deeply. She is survived by sisters Jeanette (Carl), Joyce (Roddy) and countless relatives and friends in the Alberta and Ottawa regions. To Dr. Tlhape and the wonderful staff at the Drumheller hospital- we express deepest appreciation for the care and compassion shown every day - you are all angels. A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held at the Rosedale Community Center on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2PM. Shirley had a great love of animals. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Drumheller Humane Society would make her heart soar.
