Drumheller RCMP detachment welcomes two officers to valley

Constable Mark Amatto

(l-r) Sarah Amatto, Constable Mark Amatto and their one-year-old son Nate. Constable Amatto said the transfer to Drumheller was a welcomed change and that the valley seems like a very family friendly place.

The Drumheller valley has become the new home of Constable Mark Amatto and his family.
Coming down from his post in North West Territories, Amatto said moving back down to Southern Alberta was a welcomed change.
“I’m from Crowsnest Pass originally, and I have always liked southern Alberta. I chose to come to Drumheller specifically because it’s a very family oriented place,” said Constable Amatto.
He said transferring from up north was his choice because it was just time to leave and Drumheller  seemed like a great place to raise a family.
“I volunteered to be posted in the North West Territories, and the experience was good but Drumheller is a nice farm-folk kind of town like what I was used to growing up,” said Amatto.
He said he enjoys golfing, playing hockey, baseball, and hunting in his spare time.
“I think I’m going to fit in around here,” said Amatto.
Come November of this year, it will mark six years of service in the RCMP for Contable Amatto.
“It was a sense of patriotism that led me to join. It was either going to be the military or the RCMP,” said Amatto

Constable Tom Boden

Constable Tom Boden transferred to Drumheller from Grande Prairie. He said he likes the small town feel the valley has to offer, and that being closer to his family farm in Camrose was a big draw for him to be here.

Transferring from Grande Prairie, about a month ago, the choice to move to Drumheller was an easy one for Constable Tom Boden.
Growing up near Camrose, Constable Boden said the change was welcomed, as he could be closer to home.
“I still like to go to the family farm near Camrose as often as I can to help out,” sad Constable Boden.
He said the landscape of the Drumheller valley was another big draw for him.
“It’s neat coming down from the flat, prairie landcape into a desert-like area,” said Constable Boden.
In his spare time,  Constable Boden said he likes to snowmobile in the mountains, get in a few rounds of golf when the weather permits, and hunt.
It has been four years since Constable Boden joined the RCMP.
“It was my lifelong dream to become a member of the RCMP. I began going on ride-along’s when I was 11 years old and ever since, it has been my ambition,” said Constable Boden.
