Drumheller housing market weathers storm

Despite naysayer predictions, the Drumheller real estate market continues to be strong.
The Drumheller/Brooks Real Estate Board released its June numbers and year to date totals. While there is an obvious slow down compared to the boom of just over a year ago, it is not as drastic as most would have anticipated.
“I think we had a little bit of a lull, but overall I think the market appears to be quite strong,” said Gary Chambers of Century 21 Power Realty. “Transactions are barely down and our numbers, while they are not going up by double digits, the fact that we are still going up while a lot of markets are stagnating, shows that it is still pretty healthy.”

Delia councillor steps down

Don Hall became a councillor in Delia last October in hopes of making the village a better place to live.
Hall now says it may take his resignation to get people moving.
“I quit the village hoping that my resignation would serve as a wake up call in making Delia a safer and more viable community,” said Hall.
Nomination day to replace Hall will be Wednesday, August 6. The by-election will be on Wednesday, September 3.

Rubber and chrome fills the valley

hof-rally.jpgVirtually every make and model of motorcycle was in the valley over the weekend for the annual Motorcycle Madness Show and Shine, and festival, as well as the Bash in the Badlands at the Stampede Barn. Hundreds came out to see some of the most exciting customized motorcycles in the province. Holly Guterson, left, compares her "hog" to some of the bikes on display. After the show and shine bikes headed out on parade, while all kinds of family events kept the core busy.
