The Drumheller Fire Department started Fire Prevention Week with an open house Sunday at the Drumheller Fire Hall.
Fire Chief Bill Bachynski said they have invited Emergency Services from the area including the RCMP, EMS and the Munson Fire Department to attend. There were also representatives from Drumheller’s Rosedale and East Coulee fire halls.
Bachynski says the open house provided a great chance for residents to come out and meet some of the men and women who play an important role in the community, often putting their lives at risk for the service of others.
A number of residents were at the fire hall Sunday to see and learn about the equipment, ask questions and learn what what emergency personnel do.
Bachynski said there are always applications on hand for perspective firefighters.
Fire Prevention Week is from October 5-11, and this households are encouraged to test and replace their smoke alarms.

> The Camrose Kodiaks have handed the Drumheller Dragons another loss, their first on home ice this season, when they came to visit the Dragons Saturday night. There was no scoring in the first or third periods. The Kodiaks' Cole McBride scored the only goal of the game during the second period at 13:31 to send the visiting team home with the two points they needed to stay as the top team in the AJHL South Division. The Dragons are now off until Friday when they will host the Fort McMurray Oil Barons with a 7:30 p.m. start at Memorial Arena.
