Emergency and Protective Services manager Greg Peters presented council with a briefing note on the proposed paid parking program. He explained this program is anticipated to help mitigate increased pressures on Town infrastructure and services during the tourism season.
It is proposed the program will operate between May 1 to October 31, and Drumheller residents would be exempt provided they register their vehicles, with up to four vehicles per household permitted, with additional vehicles to be considered on a case by case basis.
Funding received from the program would help to offset additional costs imposed due to this increased pressure. Any funds in excess are expected to be held in reserve, similar to existing funds in excess from the Hoodoo paid parking program.
Information and feedback is still being gathered from residents and is meant to enhance the community’s understanding of the program, and gather input and concerns. The Town’s communications department has been working closely with Emergency and Protective Services to establish a portal for residents to review information regarding the proposed program, affected areas, cost, and how to use the system.

Council adjourned to a closed session.
