Committee of the Whole Meeting

Mayor Heather Colberg called the Committee of the Whole meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.

Alberta Campus Central Executive Director Bonny Ireland presented a PowerPoint on Campus Alberta Central Regional Stewardship. Campus Alberta Central in Drumheller is a joint venture between Olds College and Red Deer College to provide post-secondary opportunities for the communities of central Alberta.
Their goals are focused on accessibility, affordability and high quality accredited programming.
Online programs have increased the participation of students by 75 per cent from the 2015/2016 year to the 2016/2017 year.
Drumheller community based programs include Heavy Equipment Operator and Health Care Aide courses. The Health Care Aide course is a four month certificate while the Heavy Equipment Operator course is a three month certificate.
Ireland asked council to get involved in the organization by participating in the operational committee and spreading the word of the locally centered facility.

Director of Infrastructure Services Armia Mikhaiel brought up the town’s current approach to snow removal.
He explained this year has been a unique case by nature and that patience of the public is greatly appreciated.
