Accused in fatal traffic incident elects Court of Queen’s Bench

    A Delia woman charged with dangerous driving causing death has elected to be tried in a Court of Queen’s Bench by judge and jury.     Deanna Amthor, 44, was charged with criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing death and refusal to provide a breath sample following a fatal motor vehicle incident on Highway 21 on December 23 of last year.
    The charges following an incident where police believe a male passenger in the rear bed of a truck travelling on the highway fell from the truck and fatally struck his head on the pavement.
    Hugh Sommerville appeared as agent for Amthor and her lawyer Balfour Der in provincial Court on Friday, April 8.  She elected to have her trial in Court of Queen’s bench and is to return December 7.
