HooDoo Hoppers enlist legal help

The HooDoo Hoppers Ski Club has decided to enlist legal help to recover the funds they spent on buying season passes to the Drumheller Ski Hill.

Local lawyer Colin Kloot has been retained by the local ski club after they were unsuccessful in recovering the funds they shelled out for the ski season.
“I have been retained by the HooDoo Hoppers to instigate legal action,” said Kloot. “I have demanded payment, and advised him (Zrinko Amerl) if I do not receive payment that I will be instituting action against his company, himself and the directors of the Drumheller Ski Club 1997.”
Earlier this year an offer by the Town of Drumheller of a short-term lease was rejected by the Ski Club and Badlands Ski Hill. Amerl promised a refund, however a number of customers have told The Mail they have not received anything.
This week www.skidrumheller.com posted a question and answer forum from Amerl, outlining and clarifying his position. He said refunds are still on the way.
“…All passes will be honoured and refunded – no questions asked! We are currently waiting for monies owed to us; as soon as we receive them, everyone will get their refunds,” it says on the website.
inSide Drumheller reported last week the Drumheller RCMP were taking information from customers who have not received their refunds, however they are not officially investigating. Amerl also addresses this in his question and answer forum.
“The sale of season passes ended in October of 2010. The ski hill was ready to start making snow November 10 and all the snow guns and the lift have been serviced and ready to turn on... and that was when the Town shut us down. There was never any intent to sell passes without opening the Ski Hill and our actions prove it,” it states.
He adds that he is at the ski hill about once a week to check messages, however e-mail is a better way to contact him. The e-mail provided on the website is zrinko@skidrumheller.com
