Three youths investigated for Kaleidoscope Theatre vandalism

Three youths are being investigated and police expect to lay charges after the Kaleidoscope Theatre was vandalized last week.     The three individuals who cannot be identified due to the provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act were identified after the community theatre facility was damaged with graffiti. The walls of the theatre were painted; there was also paint on the floor and some seats may be damaged.   Police do not have a total cost of the damages.
RCMP Staff Sergeant Art Hopkins says the vandalism occurred during school hours on Tuesday, February 22, and it was caught by teachers.  It is now in the hands of the police.
“Three young people are involved,” said Hopkins. “These kids are going to be charged criminally, and they will go through the process.”
Kaleidoscope Theatre is located within the New Drumheller Valley Secondary School. The theatre was not able to use the facility during the renovations. The theatre has its sights set on renovating and has been completing improvements recently.
