Delia High School Golden Flashback Reunion – a huge success

delia-reunion.jpgJuly 18 and 19, former students of Delia High School gathered to reminisce and get reacquainted after fifty plus years. The event included all those former high school students from 1964-65 class years and prior having the opportunity to take a nostalgic trip down the school memory lane sharing some fun, music and good times to the best our memories would serve.  Delicious food was served up by Double D Catering for the Saturday evening dinner, night lunch and Sunday morning breakfast. 175 people registered with a few guests attending to visit making about 200 people involved in the festivities. Former students were encouraged to visit the Delia Museum and to check out the town who had just successfully completed their Communities in Bloom tour and were judged July 15.  Hats off to that committee who presented the Village very well. The Hoy Band provided some great old time music for everyone’s listening and dancing pleasure, quite enjoyable to swing and sway to their special music.  Numerous door prizes were provided by many of the individuals that attended but as well the local Delia businesses which included Village of Delia, Delia and District Historical Society, UFA Co-op Ltd, Delia Coffee Shop, Mountain View Credit Union, Starland County, B&N Hair Salon, Delia General Store, Peterson Book-keeping/ ATB Financial. As well several milestones were acknowledged:

2. Longest married to first wife or husband:  Albert and Emma Mason
3. Most recently married: Dennis Bolduc
4. Most grand-kids:  Bob and Audrey Nelson

It was also great to see four of the former teachers partaking of the event and visiting with former students on a social level. They were: Doris and Martin Pasychnyk, Ron Laughlin and Jim Walker.
Master of Ceremonies Barry McLeod, started the evening off with a moment of silence for the dearly departed former students followed by greetings from Mayor Gordon Isaac and grace by Henry Hall, dinner, then just a great evening of fun.  The comment was made the next reunion will be held in the Senior’s Lodge.
