Kneehill County Council proudly joined representatives from the Alberta Society for Firefighters Abroad – Project Paraguay to celebrate the donation of two decommissioned fire trucks.
“The donation of these trucks is so meaningful to these communities in need," said Reeve Kenneth King.
Councillor Fobes and Councillor Machell-Cunningham, along with members of Kneehill County's Protective Services Department, were on hand to meet and shake hands with society representatives.
The trucks are expected to be shipped to Paraguay, where they’ll help replace aging units—some dating back to the 1950s.
One of the trucks served the Acme area for over 20 years before becoming the County’s spare unit. The second truck was stationed at the Three Hills fire hall for rural firefighting operations. Both trucks were recently retired from active service, as they no longer meet current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and are increasingly difficult to maintain due to outdated parts.
Acme received a new fire engine in 2020, and Three Hills added a new unit to their fleet in 2024.
