grass fire 2

On July 13, 2024, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Drumheller officers on patrol were flagged down by a motorist reporting an ongoing grassfire on Highway 9 part way up the South Hill in Drumheller.
It was further reported that the motorist witnessed unknown persons setting off fireworks causing the fire. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle of unknown description prior to police being notified.
RCMP officers and the Drumheller Fire Department attended the scene extinguishing the fire.
Staff Sergeant Robert Harms of Drumheller RCMP and Fire Chief Derian Rosario of Drumheller Fire Department remind the public that a Fire Restriction is in place due to dry conditions and fireworks are strictly forbidden (see Albertafirebans.ca).
RCMP continue to investigate this matter.
