Pat came to the valley in 2002 as a reporter for The Drumheller Mail after graduating with an applied degree in communications. Over the last 19 years, Drumheller has become his home and a place where he and his wife chose to raise a family. He has two daughters who attend St. Anthony’s School and his family has volunteered in various capacities at the school.
Pat served on Drumheller Town Council from 2013-2017, with experience on various boards including Drumheller and District Solid Waste Association, Library Board, Taxi Commission, and Airport Commission, working as an advocate for the betterment of Drumheller. He understands the role of the council in governance and being responsive to residents. He prides himself on being a person who can work collaboratively as part of a team and brings a considered approach to decision making.
“My reason for running for council is simply that I believe in the people and the community of Drumheller. I feel I have a lot to offer. I have the experience and bring a fresh perspective. My vision of Drumheller is of a place where everyone has an opportunity to participate in being a part of something positive and sustainable.”
Pat’s main focus is on the viability of the community. It’s no secret towns die because of the lack of opportunity, and towns are driven when there is something there to attract, retain and build a life. This means creating a sustainable environment for all residents to make Drumheller a great place to live, work and call home.
“Drumheller has many assets. We have a thriving entrepreneurial spirit, a growing tourism industry, a strong workforce, industrial capacity, and quality utilities and facilities. However, our greatest strength overall is our people. This is truly a community where people take care of each other. That is why I want to get more involved. The town helps create the framework for people to thrive, and it is exciting when people realize their potential; it pushes the community to reach its potential.”
