Rosedale to receive community mailboxes

The Rosedale Post Office situation has moved fast over the last couple of weeks, and now it appears the community will be getting community mailboxes in the near future.
The Rosedale Post office closed down in September of last year, and residents have been using the Drumheller Post Office for their day-to-day service. There was an announcement early on they would be getting community mailboxes.
In early March, residents were told by workers at the Drumheller Post Ofiice they would not be getting community mailboxes, and their mail service would continue at the Drumheller Post Office with new mail addresses.
The community launched a petition with 167 signatures, and the Town of Drumheller continued talks with Canada Post to rectify the situation. On March 23, the Town of Drumheller passed on the news that community mailboxes would now be installed.
“Moving ahead, there will be community mailboxes for the area that was previously served by the Rosedale Post Office,” said Drumheller CAO Darryl Drohomerski. “The town is also working with Canada Post to get community mailboxes for Nacmine.”
Drohomerski tells the Mail one of the issues was the possibility of duplicate addresses, however, they have found a solution.
“Canada Post has found a way around the duplicate addresses, of which the town has identified four addresses in the Rosedale area and two of the addresses will be changed,” he said.
So far, sites for the mailboxes have not been selected. There were about 180 customers served by the former Rosedale Post Office.
