The Dragons now have two straight wins in their six-game exhibition series versus the Camrose Kodiaks.
The Dragons were in Camrose on Friday night, October 16, to take on the Kodiaks. This was after falling short in the first two games of the series.
Peyton McKenzie opened the scoring on the powerplay. Luke Fennig added to the score a minute and a half later, and then Grayson Dietrich with 47 seconds left in the first period to see the Dragons in control, up 3-0.
Aiden Yakimchuk scored 6:47 into the second period, but the Kodiaks came to life with three straight goals, plus one at the beginning of the third period to tie the game.
Kasey Hiemstra regained the Dragons’ lead at the 13:45 mark of the third period, and Carter Belitski added one more to an empty net for a 6-4 win.
On Saturday night, they were back in the Dragons Den for the fourth game of the series. The Kodiaks scored first, but Dietrich answered back three minutes later. Camrose went up 2-1, but the Dragons took the lead with goals from Cyle Clayton and Hiemstra to end the first period.
After a scoreless second period, Yakimchuk put the Dragons up 4-2. Late in the period, the Kodiaks pulled their goalie, and a misplayed puck in the Dragons’ end led to a Kodiak goal. The Dragons however, held on for a 4-3 win.
This Friday, October 23, the Dragons return to Camrose, and on Saturday, October 24, they will be back in the Dragons Den. Game time, 7 p.m.
