It was an event that was looked forward to for 100 years, so one more year shouldn’t hurt.
The Morrin Centennial celebrations and homecoming were slated for this July 31- August 3, 2020. In light of concerns over the COVID -19 pandemic, organizers have decided to postpone the event.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to safely gather then. All the activities planned will remain the same,” it said on its website. “Plus there will probably be some new ideas!”
“Everyone has been very cooperative, everyone who we have booked with let us rebook for next August Long Weekend,” said committee member Sharon Coles. “COVID has taken over the world.”
The committee has a full weekend planned including a parade and all kinds of activities.
Postponing the event was not done without much consideration. The Homecoming committee closely monitored the public health measure as the province began its response to COVID-19. This was just weeks after the homecoming committee launched its website.
The homecoming and celebration will now be July 30- August 2, 2021.
They are planning to open up registration later this winter for next year’s event. Go to https://morrincentennial.com or check out its Facebook page for updates.
