Donation brings water to Atlas

IMG 0480

Everyone knows the Atlas Coal Mine has coal, but thanks to a donation from the Drumheller Rotary Club, it will have water again. In April the tourist attraction’s well became no longer operational. The Rotary Club stepped in with a donation of $3,000 for a new well. Sarah Newstead, executive director of the Atlas says they have already drilled a new well and it is producing. This may be the first time in many years the Atlas would have potable water. Private donations will cover about two-thirds of the cost, the rest will be made up by contingencies. At the donation are (l-r) Rotarians Brent Pedersen, Bob Friesen, Doug Stanford, Rod Dormer, Stacey Gallagher and Helen Peers with Sarah Newstead, Sarah Robinson and Jessica Burylo of the Atlas Coal Mine.
