Dragons players honoured at awards banquet

Awards Banquet 34

The Dragons celebrated a season to remember and said goodbye to a number of veteran players at their annual awards banquet on Saturday, March 23 at the Canalta Hotel conference centre.
While the Dragons did not have the season finish they had hoped for heading into the playoffs, where they lost in the first round to the Canmore Eagles, there was much to celebrate. The team broke a number of franchise records this year, including most wins in a season.
Recipients for this year’s awards are: MVP Brett Edwards, Bradley Stonnel for Top Defenceman, Playoff MVP Brady Risk, Most Improved Player Eric Martin, Rookie of the Year Roc Truman, Hardest Working Dragon Derrick Budz, Top Scorer Jordan Taupert, and Markus Boguslavsky was the Community Involvement Award winner. Kiana Robinson received the Academic Achievement Award, while Shane Outt received the Faubion Family Unsung Hero Award. The Jeff Hendricks Memorial Scholarship was presented to Derrick Budz, and the Volunteers of the Year were Lee and Joan Shackleton, and Joanne Schow.
