Parade committee seeking volunteers

IMG 3880

The new Planning Committee for the 2019 Canada Day parade in Drumheller has been busy and are looking for volunteers on the day of the parade to make sure it goes smoothly and safely.
This year a committee of community supporters are working on organizing the parade. They are working closely with the Town of Drumheller and the Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce, which previously hosted the event, to make sure the parade continues to be the legendary success it has been for generations.
The theme of the Canada Day Parade will honour the Drumheller Fire Department as it celebrates its Centennial.  The route will be relatively unchanged and the Chamber is supporting the parade by sponsoring some high-quality bands to march the route.
As the committee continues to hammer out details, safety will be the primary concern going forward, while at the same time maintain all the fun details that make a small town parade a fun and unique experience.
To make the parade a safe experience, the committee is looking for 50 volunteers to act as deputies along the route. They will be wearing safety attire and will have stop signs. They will have the ability to stop the parade at any time to ensure safety.
These deputies will line the route at regular intervals and is a great chance to support the community and make sure the parade continues in a safe fashion.
To learn more about volunteering as a deputy, or volunteer to support the parade, email bob@telus.net.
