Christmas tree burn at Newcastle Beach next Saturday

Christmas Tree Burn

It'll be a throwback next Saturday as people are invited to drop off their Christmas trees at Newcastle Beach for a big community bonfire.

People can start bringing their trees to Newcastle Beach on January 12 starting at noon, with a large burning off all the trees, including the large tree installed along 3rd Avenue downtown, starting at 4 p.m.

"This was a popular event in the past which we have reintroduced," says Julia Fielding, economic development officer.

The humane society will be there selling hotdogs and hot chocolate.
