Santa’s Christmas dinner delights

After nearly 40 years, the annual Santa’s Christmas Dinner again proved to be a huge success.

The dinner, held at Yavis Family Restaurant from noon to 3 p.m. on Christmas Day was a great experience by those who enjoyed the dinner, as well as the volunteers who made it a reality.

Darryl and Toni Drohomerski enjoyed their first Drumheller Santa’s Christmas Dinner as volunteers.

“We loved it and already know we want to do it again next year,” said Darryl. “It was so great to interact with so many great people and great new faces from around the community, and to see the joy in everyone eyes and thankfulness from people that partook in the event.”

This year 39 volunteers worked hard to put on the annual event, a traditional turkey dinner with all the fixings, as well as dessert.

This year they served 485 dinners. This includes many that volunteers delivered to homes throughout the valley. They also provided rides to those in need of transportation.

The most important ingredient of the meal, of course, was the great company, which keeps them coming back.
