Holiday accident near Strathmore claims one

A car accident near Strathmore Christmas day has claimed the life of a Calgary man. Strathmore RCMP report that December 25th they attended the scene of a fatal collision on Highway # 1 at the intersection of Range Road 281. A vehicle had tried to cross Highway # 1 at RR 281 northbound, when it collided with a vehicle headed east that was unable. The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 68 year-old man from Calgary, was pronounced deceased on scene by Emergency personnel. The man was travelling alone in his vehcile. The two people in the other vehicle wereattended to by EMS personnel at the scene, and they did not require further treatment.
 
The Strathmore RCMP were assisted by the Calgary RCMP Collision Analyst, EMS and Fire Departments who all attended and assisted at the scene. The investigation continues, but police say alcohol and speed were not a factor in the collision and charges are not expected.
 
The name of the deceased is not being released.
