Riverside named Value Drug Mart of the Year

    Riverside Value Drug Mart has been named the chain’s 2012 Store of the Year.
    The family owned pharmacy and retail store took home the award last Saturday night at a ceremony in Edmonton.
    “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful staff, loyal customers, and the amazing community for supporting us over the years,” said Martina Morrison, front store manager.
    Riverside Value Drug Mart has operated as a Value Drug Mart since 1980 and the Ainscough family has built it into a community institution.

Riverside Value Drug Mart was named Value Drug Mart Store of the Year for 2012.  They received their award at a ceremony in Edmonton last Saturday. At the ceremony are (l-r) Jeff Seifert, retail development manager for Value Drug Mart and  Martina Morrison, front store manager; Raymond Ainscough, owner/pharmacist and  Paul Ainscough, owner, of Riverside Value Drug Mart.


    “We are a family run business and try to make our employees and customers feel like they are all part of that family. We strive to offer our customers the best customer service and knowledgeable staff with a wide range of great products,” said Morrison.
    Riverside Value Drug Mart led the way in the four categories used to assess customer service.  These include most customer surveys filled out ion 2012, highest average rating in customer surveys filled out, most monthly features sold and highest average in sales per transaction of the monthly feature in 2012.
    “Our head office takes those four categories and many others into consideration when they pick a winner for Store of the Year,” she said.
    Today there are 33 member shareholder stores under the Value Drug Mart banner throughout Alberta and BC, as well as 12 Apple Drug stores and 10 Rxellence Professional dispensaries. For Riverside’s efforts, they received a plaque as well as a cash award, which they are investing right back into the company for fixtures.
    Morrison is proud of the business’s accomplishments.
    “Paul and Ray (Ainscough) have always stepped up to help their community and the wonderful people who reside in it. Their love for this town and its residents shows in the success they have had with this business. I am proud to be part of not only the family but this great team,” she said.
