Cenovus recognizes excellency in safety

 

 

On May 31, Cenovus Energy recognized local contractors for their outstanding performance in safety, environmental stewardship, ethical business conduct and community responsibility.

 

   Cenovus staff members nominate companies and the winners are chosen by a selection committee. 

   Four contractors were chosen out of nominees at the company’s Drumheller operations. 

   “We as a community are surrounded by [the industry] and we really appreciate Cenovus making the extra effort to recognize safety. If they didn’t, there could potentially be catastrophic consequences,” said Terry Yemen, Mayor of Drumheller. 

   Each winner upon being presented with a plaque, were given $5,000 from Cenovus to donate to the charity of their choice. 

    Ross Leffler Trucking Ltd., out of Drumheller won for the drilling business unit of Cenovus. They chose to donate their award to the Drumheller Area Health Foundation.

   Latigo Trucking Ltd., who is based out of Brooks, won for the facilities construction business unit of Cenovus. They chose to donate their cheque to the Brooks and District Health Foundation. Mayor Martin Shields of Brooks was there to share the celebration. 

   Clarence Korpan of Cenovus said the work done within the company is 95 per cent completed by contracters. 

  The Drumheller area has one of the best records in the company for safety. Cenovus highly values safety measures and precautions.

“The Cenovus EH&S Recognition Award is just one way Cenovus shows our appreciation for a commitment to safety,”said Dale Belbin, superintendent at Cenovus’s Drumheller operations, in a press release. 

Tank Tech Oilfield Services, based out of Brooks, won for the completions business unit. They chose the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation as their charity. 

Pronghorn Controls Drumheller office, won for the operations business unit for Cenovus. Pronghorn also chose to donate the $5,000 to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
