An inmate who was serving at the Drumheller Institution was sentenced to an additional 14 days after pleading guilty to leading the police on a bogus investigation.
Brian Verge appeared in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, May 10. He pleaded guilty to the charge of public mischief.
The court heard how Verge was serving at the Drumheller Institution on March 12 of this year. He made a complaint to the police that he had been tattooed against his will. Constable Maxwell entered into an investigation.
A review of video surveillance led police to believe the tattooing was not forcible, but rather by consent.
When confronted Verge admitted he made the false complaint in hopes of being moved to another institution. He was serving two and half years for two counts of robbery.
Verge was sentenced to 14 days to be served consecutively to his current sentences.
