RCMP seize $200,000 worth of heroin

Drumheller RCMP have made a signifigant seizure of heroin follwing a traffic stop on Highway 9 on Thursday.

On November 25 at about 11 a.m., a Drumheller Detachment member stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway #9 eastbound.  Subsequent investigation resulted in the driver being arrested under suspicion of being in possession of illicit drugs.  

A search of the vehicle was conducted during which time a plastic bag containing a white powder was located.  The powder was tested and provided a positive test for heroin.
 
The bag contained 1 kilogram of heroin which has a estimated street value of $200,000.
 
Trach-Thang LY ( 46yrs of age) of Calgary Alberta has been charged with:
 
            - Possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Sec 5(2) CDSA.

Ly appeared in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday November 26. He was released on $10,000 cash bail.
