Rumsey man pleads guilty to property offenses
On January 5, police were called to a rural residence in the Trochu area. Investigation revealed Fox was with a party stealing gas, and was apprehended by family members of the owner of the farm. They also discovered the truck that Fox was in was stolen. Investigation revealed that Fox had been party to stealing gas at another location a few days before. The total value of fuel lost in this instance was $500. Police also discovered a stolen pressure washer in the truck.
From information attained in their investigation, police were able to execute a search warrant on a property in Rumsey two days later. There, RCMP recovered stolen items including a number of power tools and hand tools as well as a Yamaha scooter.
He also pleaded guilty to a number of breaches including not fulfilling a restitution order from previous charges.
Defence for Fox told the court that the 41-year-old has been battling a crystal meth addiction, and became involved in the wrong crowd and relapsed. He has not touched drugs since these incidents.
Judge Shriar agreed to a joint submission of a conditional sentence order. The first seven months he is to remain under house arrest, with the exception of working. The remaining eight months he is to abide by a curfew. He is also to complete his previous restitution order as well as pay $500 for the loss of fuel to one of the victims.
