The Canadian Badlands Passion Play is commemorating their 100th performance with the release of a book which provides history on the play and chronicles the story they tell on stage every year.

“It’s something that hasn’t been done before,” says the play’s general manager Vance Neudorf. “It gives people a tangible proof of ‘Whoa!, Look at what they’re doing there’.”
It’s filled with high quality photos from the play’s beginnings in 1994 along with a history of the events leading up to the their sold out first performance.  The later half of the book contains high quality photos which tell the tale of the Bible and the Passion Play from the script they’ve used for the last five years.
The Passion Play will release another book in a few years for the current re-visioning of the script, which will debut this season.
They are currently being sold at the Good Health store on Main Street, and Neudorf says they are going fast.
It’s a big year for the Passion Play, as documentarian Philip Spink has been shooting a film at the site over the last months and will be at the show in July.
“The documentary is basically ‘How do you do it?. How do you pull off a production of this magnitude with this many volunteers in this time frame?’ It’s the making of the Canadian Badlands Passion Play story,” says Neudorf. “It’s going to be a pretty cool thing.”
“This book and documentary will really put us on the map.”
The documentary is scheduled to be released Easter 2012.
