“We decided to go ahead with a smaller version and take care of the people that come to town,” says Derek Dekeyser of the Motorcycle Madness committee. What they have planned is a weekend packed with all kinds of activities. The main event being on Saturday with a show and shine in the downtown core. This will be the third year that there has been this kind of event downtown . There will be bikes of all makes and models lining the streets with prizes of no less than $300 cash in classes for standard, metric, custom and people’s choice. This year they have also planned a farmers market to line Centre street. Downtown Drumheller will also be providing lunch in the core.
Other events include a parade immediately following the show and shine, followed by a Poker Rally through the Valley.
The Nacmine Hotel is also celebrating the motorcycle on this weekend
with their Bash in the Badlands. There will be live bands playing
throughout the weekend. On Saturday night there will be a pig roast.
John Schofield of the Nacmine Hotel says that the party will also be
giving back to the community. Throughout the weekend they will be
awarding draw prizes and holding a silent auction to raise funds for
STARS Air Ambulance. To find the Nacmine Hotel travel west from Drumheller on South Dinosaur
Trail to the community of Nacmine. The hotel is on Hunter Drive. Even before the weekend gets off to a start, the committee has planned
a Ride to The Hand Hills Hide-Away for a steak dinner on Thursday, July
6th.
