Yavis Atom Raptors carry the torch on the road

As the Torch Celebrations wound down in Drumheller, the Atom Tier 3 team carried their torch and dreams to Nanton as they had a match against the Broncos.
The Broncos had a slight edge in the league standings so it was a chance to gain some ground.
The game started out at a fast and furious pace and the Raptors cashed in on the first goal as Sean “the Sniper” Michalevich slapped it home. Great passing from Top Shelf and Wild Bill.
The teams were tied after one period and the Raptors  felt if they could keep this pace of play, we would be fine. The Broncos turned up their game one more notch and scored three goals to leave Drumheller behind. The Raptors slowed down and were being beat to the puck.
The Raptors dug deep and smashed in a couple of quick goals two minutes apart as they finished the 2nd period down by one. Snowman and Cruncher were in on the scoring.
The third period was underway as it was end to end action. The team needed to find some extra speed after the break. Raptors’ goalie put in another consistent effort as the Big E faced 32 shots.
The game came down to the last minute as Tyler “Top Shelf” Cardamone’s slapshot just missed the net. As play went back up the ice, a nifty slide pass eluded the Big E and it was in just 24 seconds left. A tough loss but the Raptors have another crack at the Broncos next week with a full roster.  Scoring this weekend: Snowman 1G 1A; Top Shelf 1G 1A; The Cruncher 1G 1A; The Sniper 1G; Wild Bill 1A; Nathan 1A; Zack Attack 1A.
