Senior Titans show improvement on field

The Senior Titans continue to improve, and while the scoreboard didn’t show it, there were some bright spots last Friday night in Medicine Hat.
The Titans were in Medicine Hat on Friday, September 23 to take on Crescent Heights. This is a perennially strong team and this year is currently ranked 6 in the Tier 3, while the Titans are ranked 9 in Tier 4. Coach Fournier felt his team showed heart.
“It is strange, we lost 49-28 but the guys were happier than when they won against Camrose,” said Fournier.
This year the Titans have stumbled out of the gate in games, and this was no exception. They fumbled around the 20-yard line of their first drive. Their second drive also ended with a fumble.
“When it rains it pours, and right now out first quarters are pretty stormy,” said Fournier. The team went down 28-0.
“Our guys got stunned a bit, but when they realized the philosophy of ‘keeping it simple.’ When your backs are against the ropes, you have no choice but to get in the ring and take a swing,” said Fournier.
The Titans battled back and made it a good football game. However, they couldn’t make up the difference. Fournier gives credit to a strong Viking team.
“They are a very good team and they can strike from anywhere on the field. They have the capability to play from sideline to sideline,” he said.
He liked how the Titans carried themselves.
“A loss is a loss, but if you lose competing, there is nothing wrong with that, you just lose to a better team. When you lose to yourself it is just frustrating,” he said.
