MAXWELL
Donald Joseph

September 2, 1937 - November 23, 2023

Don passed away on November 23, 2023, at the Drumheller Health Centre, Acute Care at the age of 86.
Don was born and raised in the Drumheller Valley which he loved to call “home”.
In his younger days he worked as hard as he played, from the old power plant, to CNR day liner and last but not least the oilpatch where he earned the name “Mad Max”. When he wasn’t working, he would be camping, fishing, or hunting. He never did shoot anything, but he caught lots of fish. One thing he took pride in was teaching his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids how to fish and grow potatoes. In the winter you would find him in the hockey arena watching his grandson Devon play hockey. He was his biggest fan along with Grandma, travelling all over to watch him play. When living in North Drumheller, he and his granddaughter Sam took many walks whether going to Whifs or catching minnows in the creek. As his daughter, my best memory over the last year was the smile on his face when he would tell me, Harry came by to see him everyday and they would reminisce about the old days.
Dad was predeceased by his mom and dad, brothers Bill, Art, Bunk, Tom, sister Marilynn, wife Geneava and daughter Pam.
He leaves to mourn his daughter Donna (Joe) Peloquin, son-in-law Ken Couturier, grandkids Samantha (Dustin) Ptashnik, Devon (Brook) Ptashnik, Candace (Brett) Schurger, Christina (Bruce) Porter, Marsha Couturier, as well as 9 great grandkids.
As per Don’s wishes there will not be any formal funeral services held. A private family gathering with close friends and family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society (Alberta Division). Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements. 403-823-2666.
