Shirley passed away at the Drumheller Continuing Care on January 30, 2023 with all of her family by her side.
Shirley was born in Strathmore, Alberta on July 21, 1936, to Joseph and Elizabeth VanBavel.
Shirley worked in the valley for many years at The Drumheller Mail, she greeted everyone with a smile and a hello. Shirley was a loving wife, mom, grandmother, she loved her time with her family.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents: Joseph and Elizabeth VanBavel, step daughter Cathy Veinotte, brothers: John and Donald VanBavel, her first husband Neils Christensen, her son Keith David Christensen.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Carl Veinotte, her children: Anna (Bill) Morrow, Kevin (Bev) Christensen, Chris (Nicki) Christensen, Greg Christensen, Bryne (Ellen) Christensen, Teresa (Brad) Davis, Duane (Rachel) Veinotte, Krystal Veinotte, her beloved 20 grandchildren, her 16 beautiful great grandchildren, numerous other family members and a lifetime of friends.

Courtney-Winters Funeral Home are in care of arrangements. 403-823-2666.

There will be a Celebration of Shirley’s life held at a later date. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones’ choice.
The Veinotte/Christensen family thank everybody in Long-term Care and Memory Lane at the Drumheller Health Centre, you all gave Shirley such great care, and we are truly grateful for all the friends she made there.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ross G. Ringdahl of Drumheller formerly of Sunnynook, AB, on February 1, 2023, at age 68. Ross was predeceased by his parents Jack and Doris Ringdahl and sister Mary Jean Oliver. Ross’s random acts of kindness, friendly phone calls, his wonderful memory, agricultural insights and business acumen will be missed by Aunt Florence Haynes; nephew Travis Oliver and brother-in-law Brian; niece Stacy (Jared) Bauereiss and the great nephews Callan, Slater, and Patton; sister Judy (Kevin) Swanson and nephews Warren and Ethan and extended family.
A private family service is planned.

Merna May Elberta Shields went to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 4, 2023. She passed away peacefully at the Hanna Long Term Care Facility at the age of 95.
Merna was born in Oyen, Alberta on July 29, 1927, to James and Edith Anderson.
She married the love of her life John Graham Shields and they were blessed with four children, John, Lynn, Dave, and Anna.
Merna was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her
family, church, nursing home staff and her community.
Merna is survived and will be missed by her son John (Shelly) Shields, and daughters: Lynn Shields and Anna (Mike) Babcock; daughter in law, Shirley Lee and her children, grandchildren: Santanna, Odessa, Kimberly, Taylor, Sierra, Rylee, Ryan, Jeff, Scott, Davey, Dustin, Sierra, and Alaina, Michael, Christine, Danielle, and Matthew; and 24 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her special sister Norma Gummo of Oyen who is going to miss Merna deeply.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 2013, and son Dave in 2021.
A very special thank you to the staff at Hanna Long Term Care for the excellent care she received. The staff were not only her care givers but also became her friends and family.
A Celebration of Life for Merna will be held in the spring with interment at the Craigmyle Cemetery.
