EWING, John

John Ewing passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 20, 2011 in Drumheller at the age of 64 years. John attended school in the Drumheller Valley and graduated in 1965. He belonged to “C” Company of Calgary Highlander Canadian Army Militia at the Drumheller Armories from September 4, 1961 to September 18, 1964 with the rank of Corporal. After graduation he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. on July 27, 1964 as a “Radar Technician” until 1970. He then worked for AGT (Telus) for 25 plus years. His passions were scuba diving and sailing and he belonged to the Banff Yacht Club.  He returned to the valley and resided in Rosedale, AB from 2002. He joined the Masons in 2002 and was an active member and recently received title of Worshipful Master of Symbol Lodge #93. John will be dearly missed by his sister, Georgina (Frank) Thompson of Drumheller, AB and his brother, Don (Linda) Ewing of Drumheller, AB, and nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents John and Agnes Ewing, Sister Mary Ruston and nephew Kerry Oshiro. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held Saturday April 30, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Courtney-Winters Funeral Home with Todd Reinholt, Celebrant, officiating.  If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Drumheller and Area Health Foundation/Palliative Care.
