Schinnour, Vern of Drumheller Alberta passed away Sunday April 11, 2010 at the Foothills hospital in Calgary. Vern passed away surrounded by his family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Vern was born on March 22, 1928 in Foremost, AB to Lillian and Vern Schinnour Sr. He worked with his father and brothers in Shaughnessy AB for the family farm machinery business. Vern married his first love Rose Bosnak on June 11, 1952 and they had six children together. Vern and Rose moved their family and business to the Drumheller area in 1960 where they grew the business into the largest Massey Ferguson Dealership in North America. Vern and Rose retired and spent many years travelling and returned once again to the Drumheller area. Rose Schinnour passed on February 3, 2004 after her battle with cancer.
Vern loved St. Anthony’s Parish, family, fishing, walks, cribbage, numerous volunteer activities, making friends and being with his longtime friends especially Brumy Aiello.
Vern leaves to mourn his death his second love Lena Kuntz, they were married November 8, 2008 and expanded his family from 6 to 9 children, 13 to 18 grandchildren and from 11 to 12 great grandchildren.
Vern Schinnour was predeceased by his father Lavern Beverly Sr., his mother Lillian and siblings Spence, Delores, Ardle and Lloyd. Left to mourn Vern’s passing is his Brother Don (Yvonne) Schinnour of Salmon Arm BC. His six children and families Rick, (Joanne) children Jackie, Angela - Terry (Wayne) Burton, children Kristen, Rob, Sean – Cindy, children James, Tamara – John, (Bev) children, Morgen, Mason – David (Tammy) children Scott, Amanda – Cathy (Rod) Morse, children Courtney, Ricky - Russ Kuntz, children David, Amanda – Lyle (Kim) Kuntz child, Aiden – Jacquie (James) Matlo, children Colin, Kayla. His brother and sister-in-laws, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many, many friends!
Prayers will be held Thursday April 15, 2010 – 7:00 pm at Courtney-Winters Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Friday April 16, 2010 – 1:00 pm at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church Building Fund.
