Mom, Grandma, Sister… Shirley Lorraine Rowell (Jackman) passed away Sunday, April 4 at the Drumheller Continuous Care Centre. Shirley was predeceased by her husband John, brother Charlie and mother Florence Matchett, and is survived by her two daughters Susan Stewart of Big Valley, Marty Eberth and son-in-law David of Morrin and her grandchildren: Neil and Mark Stewart and Nicole Hickie. Shirley has four sisters: Wilma (Dudley) Edwards of Sicamous, BC, Betty Wollen of Drayton Valley, Mavis (Len) Otto of Edmonton, and Julie White of Drumheller.  Shirley was born August 19, 1928 in Morrin and married John Rowell in November 1948. John and Shirley farmed west of Morrin and continued to live on the farm after John’s retirement. Always together, they spent their leisure time fishing, camping and spending time with their grandkids. When John passed away in 1991, Shirley moved to Drumheller and lived in Keystone Towers. She enjoyed travelling with her sister Betty, coffee with her friends, and cross stitching (making many special pictures for Susan and Marty). Grandma treasured every moment spent with her grandkids. She loved Neil’s ‘tricks’ and Mark’s jokes. Nicole was a special delight to her Grandma. She lived close by and they spent countless hours together. Memorial Service Friday, April 9, 2010 2:00 P.M. at Morrin United Church, Morrin, Alberta. Donations to a charity of one’s choice. Courtney–Winters Funeral Chapel entrusted with arrangements 403 823 2666.
