Mr. Steven George SHAMBER passed away on January 21, 2010 at Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, due to (complications of his illness) after being diagnosed with terminal cancer in January of 2005. Steven was born in Oliver, B.C. and lived in Bridesville, B.C. with his parents and 3 siblings. He attended schools in Bridesville, Kettle Valley, Midway and subsequently graduated from grade 12 in 1970 at the Southern Okanagen Secondary School in Oliver. He married Bonnie Ann FORBESS of Oliver in August 1974 and from 1975 to 1979 they had three children together. Steven moved to the Vancouver area where he apprenticed in Carpentry and earned his Journeyman Certification in 1976. In 1979 he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and upon his graduation from Regina, he was posted in Vermilion, Alberta in 1980. He remained there until 1986 when he was transferred to Breton, Alberta. Another 6 years was spent there and he was then posted to Drumheller from 1991-1997, when he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and was moved to Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Steven was divorced in 2001 and married Loraine Lynel COOPER from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta in November of 2003. He retired from the RCMP in December of 2003, took a year off and had just started a small construction/renovation business when he became ill. He is predeceased by his Father George Peter SHAMBER in 1993, his sister Carol Ann HANSEN (SHAMBER) in 2007, and his mother Ruth Evelyn SHAMBER (KINGSLEY), also in 2007. He is survived by his wife Loraine COOPER; Children Holly and Kingsley KNUST, Allison and Brent SMYTH, Scott SHAMBER and his fiancée Felesha DANIELS; step children Corie and Lori COOPER, Jeremy and Erin COOPER; grandchildren Rowen KNUST, Kyler EPP and Mackenzie SMYTH, Rayelle COOPER and Marlee COOPER; brother Pat and Jan SHAMBER; sister Dolores and Earl PROULX, and numerous nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. A Celebration of Steven’s Life will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Dale Hansen officiating.
